Kocsis somehow had a special relationship with this experimental Liszt-piece - I feel this is as perfect a performance as it can get. Playful and maniacal with equal measure, the coda feels controlled and unhinged at the same time. Words do fail me. What a pianist, one of the immortals, for sure.

The use of pedal is very great here. Thank god for steinway and their advancements to develop an all around instrument. Very clear.

This is brutal (and magnificent). What fantastic musicianship. Always in our hearts.

I would have to say that Liszt was running out of ideas.
