    • Whenever I’m approaching the modulation to Eb during the rundown section, I’m having this debate in my head...”repeat or move on?” And often times I move on because one time through is enough to make my forearm numb. This dude repeats it and it’s just as nuanced as the first time. How he manages those PP octaves at that speed is mind-boggling. I mean I get that he’s a world class performer, but still. When you witness something amazing that you have ZERO experience with, you chalk it up to the person’s dedication and skill. Like...gymnastics. I’m as flexible as a steel girder. So when I watch Olympic gymnasts do things that seem impossible, I understand that they have trained their entire lives. But I can play the piano. I can play this piece. I still can’t do that octave section twice and definitely not PP on the repeat.

    • I remember hearing this piece when I was younger. I had an electric piano that had this piece as a demo (it also had Clair de lune) and I fell in love with this piece of music, it’s very nostalgic for me. I never knew what it was called until now, and hearing this made me cry.
