Wonderful.....sounds similar to my favorite beautiful-music-orchestra OK-DREAMBAND. Sweet and romantic.CD "Clarinet-Dreams" is available for download (iTunes, amazon). My favorite track is "Dreambay-Serenade".
I actually hated this song around 1954, when it was played at local skating arena in Helsinki´s Brahe about every 30 minutes. Too much violins for me. As I grew older , I accepted it as a masterpiece of music & performance.
Karl i totally agree with your comments there, although in 1954 i was a very young child i did however hear this tune many times,it was a favourite of my late parents, this whole peacefull arrangement has grown on me with age,,ha ha
The instrumental version reminds me the beauty of the Moulin Rouge in particular and Paris in general. In the particular, the extensions are, among others, "Can-Can", Tolouse Latrec and Edith Piaf.
Unfortunately the introduction of lyrics to this exquisite orchestration resulted in a song titled "Where is your Heart". There is only word to describe it: Ugly!

A river of languid melody. Enchanting. Reminds me of the 1950s, when the world was recovering from the general horror of world war.
