Two of the band members first met while taking an accounting course at Menlo College. They walked outside because the class was so boring and started strumming the guitar.
I heard this song this morning on a local oldies station that sometimes plays some obscure stuff. I knew it was the Kingston Trio but had never heard the song before. It has haunted me all day. BTW, it was written by Will Holt, the writer of "Lemon Tree." It seemed so real and true to me. In our youth, we are open to the possibility of love but by the time we get old, our dreams of love often "turn to dust."
My father made a $100 bet with we 5 kids if any of us could learn the entire song, French included. 30 yrs. later, he still has the money in his pocket. Great song though. Thank you.

These are some of the most poignant lyrics. So true to life. Only a man who has reached the age of 50 will completely understand them.
