You are correct JJ McCartney! I agree with you 100%. But what is the cause of the decline in melodic soulful pop music? It is the rise of Rap/Hip Hop, which is horrible "music", but still stole the show because the ignorant low-life Ghetto mentality people of all colors favor it, and the music companies shove it down our throats. I say boycott Rap. Have nothing to do with it. Lets run it out of business. Maybe then Motown and the Philadelphia sound will come back.
I remember running downstairs and across the street to the pizzeria/record shop to get the fold open pamphlet that had the Top 10 R & B and Soul hits lists. It also had a list of new records coming out.We used to look forward to the new edition eagerly every week to see where James Brown or Smokey or Sam and Dave were at on the list.
